About me and ahlab.dev
From Motherhood and Library to Digital Innovation
I'm Abmi, a mother and school librarian who discovered digital innovation during life's most transformative moment. When pregnancy prompted me to reimagine my future, I found my calling in creating technology that truly serves people.
My journey spans continents and disciplines. Born in Indonesia, I unexpectedly found myself building a new life in the Netherlands—a transition that taught me resilience and adaptability. My path through history studies, archive research, and library science gave me a unique foundation: the ability to uncover what people really need and make complex information accessible.
Motherhood sharpened this focus, bringing urgency to solve real problems for real people navigating life's challenges.
The Power of Human-AI Collaboration
I build with AI agents as creative partners. While others debate whether AI will replace humans, I'm proving the magic happens when we collaborate. Every project combines human empathy, cultural awareness, and lived experience with AI's technical capabilities.
I may not have a traditional computer science background, but I bring deep empathy, curiosity, and the ability to see technology from a user's perspective first. My librarian role taught me to ask the right questions, motherhood taught me to solve problems that matter, and my cultural heritage and academic background keep me grounded in human stories.
Building Technology That Connects
My work spans culture, community, and technology. From mapping Indonesian restaurants worldwide to helping mothers navigate workforce re-entry, every project starts with: How can technology make life better for people (like me)?
Current Projects:
Indonesian Food Global Map - Connecting people to Indonesian food and cuisine
Scroll Metrics Analyser - Understanding user behaviour through metrics measurement
Recipe Cultural Connector (in development) - Preserving food traditions and their stories. This project will be presented at a conference in The Hague in September.
Global Food System Visualiser (in development) - Making complex data accessible and easier to understand for school community. This project will be presented at a conference in The Hague in September.
Workforce Re-entry Hub for Mothers (in development) - Supporting career transitions for mothers
Creating Something Meaningful
At AH LAB, I believe the future lies not in replacing human creativity with AI, but in amplifying it. Every project experiments with what's possible when empathy meets technology and lived experience meets creative problem-solving.
Whether you're a cultural organisation looking to modernise or a business seeking human-centered technology solutions, let's explore how we can bring your ideas to life.

My mission
I'm on a mission to bridge the gap between human creativity and artificial intelligence to build digital products that preserves culture, connects communities, and empowers life transitions. Through collaborative partnerships with AI agents, I transform complex problems into accessible digital solutions that honour human stories while leveraging cutting-edge technology.
My vision
A world where technology amplifies human potential rather than replacing it, where digital innovation serves the underrepresented, and where every career transition or cultural journey is supported by thoughtful, empathetic design. One step at a time, I want to contribute to a world where innovation is measured not only by technical complexity, but by meaningful human impact.
